. . . Hurricanes . . . Tsunamis . . . Earthquakes . . . and now Volcanos? . . .

The photos from the volcano

Eyjafjallajokull

(how do you pronounce that you ask?)

are incredible. My kids have been terrified of volcanoes ever since the
movie Dante's Peak came out and we all went to see it.
I quite liked it, but they were terrified!

You'd think we lived just down the street from one - as much time as they have
spent worrying about it!

I can't imagine living in the shadow of one much as the people in
Iceland do . . . can't even imagine . . .

Here's the kicker -

We have a

"once in a lifetime"

girls trip planned to Paris with the sisters, cousins and nieces
for May 13th.

What do you think my chances are of getting stuck there forever more!! ??

Life could be worse than to be stuck in Paris! We just got back from there two weeks before the volcano. I could have stayed an extra few days!

BTW - The volcano is next to a village some of my ancestors came from. At least there used to be a village there...!

If you're gonna be stuck, that's a good place to be. Paris, I mean!

Airspace should stay open. You can always train south and fly from an unaffected area...

...flying home out of Madrid eventually worked out for us :)

I don't know... maybe you won't even get there! That volcano is looking like it might actually CANCEL SUMMER for half the world!!!

Yikes! I hope things improve rapidly or you may be in for a rather dim view of paradise.

My friend was in London when it happened. She's supposed to fly home this weekend, but since she works for the airline too and doesn't have to pay for flights, she is really worried about making it back home. At least her husband's company is paying for their lodging.

Seriously! Amazing pics... Mandy freaks out if you even say the words "Dante's Peak"! Well - if you get stuck in Paris, you won't have to worry about showering or shaving... and now and then you can pee in the metros.... ): ew.... and there are a few cathedrals that might have room at the inn! Never the less - take extra Euro, and enjoy the trip... and next time, would you mind leaving Chocolate milk? I had to add my own chocolate powder to the milk in your fridge last time you left! xoxoxo Wish our travel times could cross paths there - we're off by about 3 weeks. Leaving my razor home (:

Only if you are lucky.:-)Actually the parents of a girl in our ward have been stuck there. They flew stand by so will be the last to get out. Another couple were supposed to leave the day after the volcano erupted. They ended up switching their trip to the Caribbean. So sad. They had planned the trip for a year.

So--are you up for lunch on Friday? I can't find your email address. If you can get together, email me at joy4yourjrney@gmail.com and we can work out details. Thanks!!

Best of luck not getting stuck in Europe, but I've been there a couple of times, and it wouldn't be that bad. Thanks for wandering over my way!

As places to get stuck in, I think Paris is probably at the top of the list. Have so much fun in Paris, and I hope to hear tons more about it soon!

I know what you mean! We're flying to Switzerland on April 30th, and my husband is freaking out a little about getting stuck there!

Have fun in Paris!
