The Spirit of God like a Fire is Burning . . .

Yes, it is .  . .

Especially if you are a member of the Church of Jesus Christ living within the Utah, Southern Idaho area where broadcasts of the recently completed Brigham City Utah Temple Dedication will be broadcast.

There is nothing like being present for a temple dedication and I have felt personally so fortunante to have been able to participate in several throughout my lifetime.

I have my new white handkerchief all ready to participate in the sacred Hosanna Shout (linked to some wonderful informative information),  and then we are privileged  to sing as a congregation with Latter-Day Saints everywhere one of my favorite hymns . . .

"The Spirit of God Like a Fire is Burning"

And feel the Spirit of our Heavenly Father testify to many of those present the blessing and importance of temples here on earth with their sacred ordinances and eternal sealing power.

BUT I wanted to share a little Brigham City Temple information for those of you who are unfamiliar with the LDS Temples, or even perhaps this specific temple recently constructed in Brigham City Utah.  I just found most of if this morning as I was unable to attend the recent open house where 100's of thousands of visitors were able to tour the open house.  I wanted to  better understand for myself a little bit more about the opportunity I am about to participate in . . .

  • Go inside the Brigham City Temple for a brief tour courtesy of LDS Church News and get a glimpse of magnificent interior.
  • If you couldn't attend the open house - view these photos taken by the Brigham City Temple Blogger, you almost feel like you could have been there.
  • A glimpse of the "Brides Room" and general information about this temple.
  • A fun perspective from a BoxElder County oldtimer - Jerry Johnston
  • Official website from Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

There . . .

Now enjoy the day, and especially the Brigham City Temple dedication if you live within the broadcast viewing area.

For April the book is - The Kitchen House by Kathleen Grissom

Soooo excited!
The author shares this information and recipe for Molasses Cake

While in Williamsburg, I watched re enactors roast beef over a spit in a kitchen fireplace. Small potatoes in a pan beneath the meat were browning in the drippings, and I cannot tell you how I longed for a taste. That was my inspiration for the Christmas meal. For basics, such as the chicken soup, I built a recipe around what I knew would have been available for use in the kitchen house at that time.
Whenever Belle baked a molasses cake, I craved a taste. I did try several old recipes that I found, but I was unsatisfied with the results. So, using the old recipes as a baseline, my daughter, Erin, and I created our own version of a simple yet moist and tasty molasses cake. I am happy to share it with the readers:
Simple Molasses Cake
½ cup butter
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
½ cup milk
1 cup molasses
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 dashes ground cloves
¼ teaspoon salt
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inchsquare baking pan. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar. Beat in the egg. In a separate bowl, combine the milk and the molasses. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. Add each of these alternately to the butter mixture, beating well between additions. Spoon batter into the prepared pan. Bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Our last book for the season will be Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Binchy

I would love to know what is on your reading list for the upcoming season!

Enjoy!!

Proclamation on the Family Week!

Hurray!

It's time to celebrate family . . .

DSC07259 kk
well, I know you're thinking . . . we ALWAYS celebrate family around here, it's so true :)

But it's Proclamation on the Family Week for LDS Bloggers out there.

While I haven't had a few moments yet to compose my own thoughts on the Proclamation, let me just say I am immensely grateful for it, and grateful for the foresight of the Prophets and leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as they implemented something that seemed to me at the time to be quite obvious, but now is amazingly inspired.

I will try to gather my own thoughts and share my own witness of it importance in the next couple days.

But for now . . .

I can at least point you in the right direction!

Head on over to

Chocolate on my Cranium

We Talk of Christ we Rejoice in Christ

Diapers & Divinity

Middle-aged Mormon Man
Family Proclamation

for some pretty powerful inspiration . . . between now, Sept 17 and Sept 30, it will just keep on coming.

Countdown to Election Day 2012

Countdown to election day 2012 -

Election day is on Tuesday, November 6th . . .

Just a few short 51 days, 6 hours and 7 minutes

As the election draws nearer and nearer you'll have to forgive my emphasis on political comment on my  family oriented blog - but here is a message I would like to get out there for all you visiting peeps -

"Mitt Romney is not just the most qualified man for the POTUS job because of his vast experience in turning around large enterprises...
he is also a man of great integrity who truly is "his brother's keeper"."

These stories need to be heard before election day -

In the 5 posts that follow below - I can't get them to embed
more than one to a post -

Below are five stories from folks who have been impacted some way or another by Mitt Romney. I've heard a few of these before, but was surprised to see that a few of them are never-before-told stories. These stories and more are also expanded upon in On The Brink, America's Choice 2012. Please watch, enjoy, and share with all you know.

So Close I can Almost Taste it . . .

Ahhhh . . . . we are getting sooooo close!

It's been a while since I've created a new blog post, but there has been MUCH in the works!  I have some really amazing posts coming up about fun summer adventures . . . but this will have to suffice for the 5 minutes I have at the moment!

We move in NEXT week . . .

and I am SOOOOOO excitied!

We hoped to be moved in by the end of August, it was a little tight in our mini AF apartment with Karianne, Greg and Addi Bear visiting, but we had an amazing time!

Those photos are in the works :)

But here's a little update of the townhouse - all taken with my cell phone today as my REAL camera photos I took a couple days ago are already outdated.
