The Truth about Cats & Dogs . . .

Just knew my husband would want to know this EXCITING
new piece of information . . .

If you're considering adopting a puppy, kitten, or other pet – or if you already own one – then you know about the companionship and fun pets add to your life. But in addition, owning a pet can boost your health.

Pets: The Physical Benefits

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, pets are good for cardiovascular health: Owning a pet can decrease your blood pressure and lower your cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Studies have also found that pet owners are more likely than people without pets to survive after hospitalization for a heart attack, and that owning a pet lowers anxiety and decreases feelings of loneliness and depression.

Funny but that's what my teens tell me too. I was never one for pets but I think I've fallen in love with Tyson, our baby beagle.

Wow. Now I'm even more sorry I'm allergic to dogs and cats. Those are pretty good stats!

I will have to show this to my husband. It might help him to have a better attitude about our dog. :-)(Especially since he is doing all the care for her at the moment).

I am at the hospital in Provo. Funny--I know you are a L&D nurse but I still thought of you when I would walk past the nurses station. :-) We are hoping my mom can go home on Friday. That would be nice.

Wow how cool. I know the loneliness thing is definitely the truth. I sleep so much more sound when my husbands out flying now knowing there's a pet in the house.

Look at that shiny black coat! What a beauty.

Dogs help keep weight in check, too -- when you walk them ... something I've been horribly remiss about lately. Both the dogs AND I have put on a few pounds the last month or so!

My boys want a dog now. Still deciding but it would be nice to have one. :)

I love that nursing homes and hospitals have started implementing pet therapy. I know it makes a huge difference. Our pets have been a very important part of our family lives.

Oh my goodness mother, I miss him! Give Conan a huge hug for me! And tell him I'll be home soon so he can sleep with me on my bed and keep me warm again. Oh I miss him! I think my health is declining because I'm not with him.
